The United Way of McLean County says its Emerging Community Impact Partners are helping to take some of the guesswork out of the transition to college. The ECIP is hosting an event called "Pay My Way." Senior Director of Resource Development Gina Mandros says the event will help both students and families...

"...to understand a little bit more about what finacial opportunities exist to them as they're getting ready to go into college or start thinking about applying to colleges."

Mandros says the event also gives high school students the opportunity to take a leadership role...

"The program was designed to ask small groups of students to implement a community wide project based on a need that they've identified or seen that's really importan tot them."

Community leaders will speak at the event, sharing information about financial aid, scholarships, choosing the right college, money management, and campus safety. The event will take place March 2nd, at Heartland Community College.
