Debbie Halvorson says the huge amounts of money spent against her campaign in the 2nd congressional district proved too much to overcome. Specifically, the millions spent by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Super PAC highlighting Halvorson's record on gun control:
"I think someone timed it that every 7 Ĺ minutes there was a commercial that showed whatever it was, unfortunate misinformation. And then every single day another mail piece and it talked about things that were not necessarily true. That's the way it was. I canít help it."
As far as running for another elected office, Halvorson, a former Illinois state senator who once represented parts of central Illinois in congress, says she's learned to never say never.
