The falling snow and earlier ice cover has led to a number of accidents today in central Illinois. Bloomington police have instituted a collision alert, which means anyone involved in a wreck with no injuries and driveable vehicles should exchange information then report the incident together at the Bloomington police station within five days. Also the town of Normal has instituted a parking ban on all streets until Noon Thursday. The Illinois Department of Transportation reports Interstate 55 between Normal and Pontiac was 100% covered with either ice or snow. I-74 from Bloomington to Champaign was reported to have several slick spots. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until Noon tomorrow for McLean County. 3 to 4 inches of snow is expected by the time it ends during the day tomorrow.
