For the first time in over a year the lakes that Bloomington relies on for water are full. Water Department Director Craig Cummings says water is currently sloshing over the spillways at both Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake. The last time that was the case was February 5th of 2012. And the most recent US Drought Monitor report did not have areas around Bloomington listed as being in some sort of drought condition for the first time since last March. The lakes provide water for Bloomington as well as thousands in Towanda, Hudson, and elsewhere in McLean County.
