Illinois Governor Quinn has signed a new law allowing undocumented immigrants to get temporary drivers licenses. Lawmakers made their decision late last year. And, coincidentally, IPR's Michelle O'Neill was involved in a fender-bender with a driver who spoke very little English. While getting her car fixed at a Rock Island body shop, owner Bruce Strader told her it's common, and that 5 to 10 percent of his business comes from crashes involving refugees or immigrants. Some of them are here legally, but some of them aren't. Michelle O'Neill has more.
The Secretary of State's office says the temporary drivers licenses won't be available until October.
