Mid-Illini Credit Union is opening a new location in Bloomington's Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Mid-Illini's Julie Workman says the church's continuing effort to provide services to their members and the West Bloomington community aligns with one of the credit union's goals of serving the underbanked...

"Our goal as a credit union--our ultimate goal--would be for everyone in our community, and everyone everywhere, to be financially secure and to be equipped to make good financial decisions."

Workman says the decisions came after much research, a personal connection, and input from current customers...

"One of the things our members have been asking for, for several years now, is if we could please open a location on the West Side."

Workman says the staff at Mid-Illini Credit Union have received training to be financial counselors in preparation for the opening of the new location to help lower dependance on payday lending services. Workman says the new location will be able to meet all of the community's banking needs...

"Well, there will be all of the services we offer at our Eastland Drive location, plus some new products that were getting ready to roll out over there."

The target opening date for the Mount Pisgah location is today, January 28th.
