Bloomington police are investigating the killing of a 16-year old boy in southwest Bloomington. Spokesman Dave White says the shooting happened at 2:48 p.m. on Ginger Trail in the Danbury Court Apartments. There were 9-1-1 reports of a disturbance and a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

"Officers responding to the area did not find the car initially. They did go right to the apartment and found evidence of an incident where blood was shed. An off-duty policeman from Bloomington spotted the vehicle speeding northbound on Veterans Parkway and we dispatched officers to be over at St. Joe because it appeared they were heading that way."

Officers say acquaintances of 16 year old Kuantrae Massey took him to OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The three in the vehicle were questioned. Anyone with information, is being asked to contact the police department. It is Bloomington's first homicide of the year. There was only one killing in all of last year in Bloomington.
