Arrest made in Brotherhood Tree gift theft case

Bloomington police have made an arrest in the case involving Christmas presents stolen from a twin city charity effort. 48-year old Jodi Lee Wetzel of Bloomington was taken into custody and charged with theft after allegedly stealing gifts donated to the WJBC Brotherhood Tree. Organizers had suspected a volunteer used phony contact information and then kept presents intended for dozens of families. Wetzel is accused of Theft by Deception, Knowingly Depriving and other charges. Wetzel assisted in the return of most of the gifts and fruit baskets. The approximate value of the gifts was about $2,500.
