Peoria has been charged more than $100,000 in legal fees to defend a police officer accused of stalking another officer while on the job. Peoria taxpayers have been billed nearly $113,000 since the case was filed last year. Peoria police Officer Donna Nicholson filed for a no-stalking order against fellow Officer Jeff Wilson. Nicholson claimed Wilson had surreptitiously video recorded her and tracked her car with a GPS device. A judge granted the order. The police chief later said the department's internal investigation concluded there wasn't enough proof Wilson had planted the GPS on Nicholson's vehicle. Nicholson also has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit and a complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
