A Logan County Circuit Judge has been named to the fourth district Appeals Court. Judge Thomas Harris is expected to run for an appeals court seat in two years. He fills a vacancy created by a retirement. Harris was elected Circuit Judge in 2008. Chief Circuit Judge Elizabeth Robb says it is a bittersweet appointment because Harris will be missed on the circuit as a thoughtful judge and legal scholar. Harris has also worked as a prosecutor in Logan County and in private practice in Lincoln and Bloomington. Harris was also the judge in the Beason murders case and Chief Robb says she will be evaluating how to reassign that and the rest of the case load . The fourth district stretches from one side of the state to the other across central Illinois, from Danville to Quincy.
