A McLean County Jury has rejected the self defense claims of a 47 year old woman who choked her 70 year old mother in law to death. Jurors deliberated several hours before rendering a guilty verdict against Misook Nowlin in the death of Wenlan Tyda. Prosecutors claimed Nowlin lured Tyda to Bloomington with the offer of a job translating Chinese, killed her, and buried her in the Dupage County Forest Preserve. The alleged motive was a piece of Tyda's life insurance proceeds. Nowlin will be sentenced to between 60 and 100 years in prison at the end of January.
