Stiff sentences after 12 years on the lam for Peoria couple

A federal judge in Peoria has sentenced a Peoria couple who ran a $1.8 million investment fraud scheme, pleaded guilty, and then escaped for 12 years. 65-year old Nelson Hallahan and 55-year old Janet Hallahan were captured near Phoenix, Arizona early this year after their case appeared on America's Most Wanted. Nelson Hallahan will have to serve a sentence of 22 and a half years in prison and Janet Hallahan was sentenced to more than 15 years for her role in scamming family and friends. The Hallahans will also have to make restitution of more than $1.4 million.
