The filing period for municipal election candidates in Bloomington Normal has closed. In addition to the early filers last week, JeVaughn Martin of Normal has filed to run for Mayor. Martin lives on Shelbourne and is seeking attention for those who live in the Orlando area of town. He is the third mayoral candidate in Normal. Ryan Fiala also filed to run for Ward Seven Alderman in Bloomington against Scott Black. Ron Ulmer and Cheryl Gaines have filed petitions for Normal Town Council, completing a field of six candidates for three positions. And for the first time in more than 20 years, a Democrat has filed to run for Bloomington Township Supervisor. Stephanie Uzueta is a case worker for the John M. Scott Health Resources Center under the township umbrella and has spent more than 22 years in the social services.

Uzueta will face the winner of a February 26th GOP primary. Deb Skillrud and Steve Purcell have filed to run as Republicans. There will also be a GOP primary for Bloomington Township Assessor between Steve Scudder and Natocha Troyer. There are contested non partisan Bloomington Council races in Wards one, five, and seven.
