A Bloomington doctor is being recognized by his peers for his humanitarian work. Doctor William Neil of O-S-F Saint Joseph Medical Center is being honored with the Illinois Academy of Physicians Distinguished Service Award. Doctor Neil has served the twin cities for 27 years. He has also been a volunteer for the charity, "Friends of the Children of Haiti" since 2005, making trips to the nation on the island of Hispaniola. He's served on the Friends of the Children of Haiti board since 2009. Neil's also developed a close relationship with Bloomington-Normal's sister city Vladimir Russia, hosting doctors from the city, and delivering presentations in Russia on topics including domestic violence. Neil continues to donate his time and talent to the Community Free Clinic.
