Organizers of this year's McLean County United Way drive are pleased 75% of the $4,350,000 goal has been reached. Campaign chair Barb Baurer with Country Financial says they're cautiously optimistic the final tally can be reached but she says it will require a complete community effort. Baurer says donors can now contribute online and prizes will be awarded to some contributors. She says the prizes are more a reward than an incentive.
"If you donate $10 or more online, you get entered into a giveaway for the Bloomington Blaze. We have everything from skybox tickets for a game in January. Also a chance to get out on the ice at intermission and then also some general admission tickets."
So far, the campaign launched in late August has netted $3,249,691. Baurer says some companies are still wrapping up their annual campaigns. Baurer says making a donation to United Way in someone's name is a great holiday gift. The United Way funds 66 human service programs and initiatives in McLean County.
