Police in Bloomington and Champaign have arrested four people in connection with a fake marijuana ring operating at tobacco shops in both communities. The four were nabbed during an undercover sting called "Operation Storefront." 48-year old Ghasson Qahaji, 39-old Ghiath Qahwaji, 35-year old Hani Al-Maghayred, all of Bloomington, and 32-year old Hicham Rharabi of Normal are being held on bonds ranging from $100,000-$200,000. Undercover officers allegedly purchased controlled substances known as "Blue Heaven" from the suspects at shops known as Global Tobacco on North Main and East Washington in Bloomington and in Champaign. In addition to the fake pot, authorities also retrieved about $1,000,000 in cash, which will be reviewed under forfeiture.
