Bloomington Mayoral candidate John Hanson says he does not view a regional water supply as a pressing issue facing the city. That contrasts with one of Hanson's likely opponents next year, former County Board member Tari Renner, who has said it is a priority for him. Hanson says the city has already begun drilling wells and making independent moves to secure more water, which lessens the importance of a multi government effort.

A McLean County Board member recently called for a joint meeting of Normal, Bloomington, and County governing bodies to address the lack of progress on a well field in western McLean and eastern Tazewell Counties. Four people have taken out petitions to run for Bloomington Mayor. Incumbent Steve Stockton says he is retiring.
