Much of central Illinois is emerging from the summer long drought, according to climatologist Jim Angel. He says cool temperatures and precipitation from hurricane Isaac have helped:
Angel says along with the cooler October temperatures, rainfall in the McLean County area was .75 inches above normal. He says his office uses data like rainfall, stream flow, aquifer levels, and lake levels to measure when droughts begin and end.
