Mitsubishi is pointing to mixed sales results last month, as demand for the newly-redesigned Outlander Crossover Utility Vehicle continues to rise. Overall, there was a 9.1% decline in sales of Mitsubishi vehicles in the U. S. compared to October last year. But, officials with the Japanese automaker point out sales of models currently in production were up 7% from a year ago. Mitsubishi discontinued the Eclipse, Galant and other models last year, and began building the Outlander CUV at its plant in Normal in July. Sales of the Sport were up 30% last month and are running 7.4% ahead of last year's pace. Only 30 all-electric Mitsubishi i vehicles were sold last month. So far, fewer than 500 have been sold in the U.S. this year.
