In early reporting, State Farm Insurance has now received 50,000 home and auto insurance claims related to superstorm Sandy's hit on the east coast. Spokeswoman Holly Anderson says 42,000 are homeowner claims and 8,000 are auto. Claims adjusters have moved into the impacted areas and are assisting policy holders. State Farm has more than ten million customers in the nine states affected by Sandy. The property damage from the storm alone may top ten billion dollars.
