Republican first term Congressman Bobby Schilling is defending a mailer sent out to 17th district households which calls itself, "The Illinois Democrat." The full color mailing went to homes of registered Democrats. Schilling's opponent, Cheri Bustos, calls the flier "misleading," a charge echoed by Don Jackson of the Peoria area NAACP. The civil rights organization's logo appears behind Schilling in some photos. Terry Schilling, is the campaign manager for Bobby Schilling, and says the flyer clearly identifies the freshman representative as a Republican, and is not misleading. Terry Schilling also says the flyer does not claim that Bobby Schilling has the support of the NAACP. The flyer touts itself as the "Working Families Voice," and highlight's the Republican's years as a member of a union, and one time union steward.
