Bloomington says 'no' to additional downtown liquor licenses Bloomington officials are turning down additional liquor licenses for downtown because, they say, current regulations aren't being enforced. The City Council voted against a measure to add the licenses designed for entertainment and specialty venues. Alderman Steven Purcell says the council is drifting away from the real issue of college students and people being over served in Downtown Bloomington because they drink before coming to the bars...

Purcell says it doesn't matter whether there's an 'E' license or a 'Q' license, people are being over served. Mayor Steve Stockton, who also serves on the liquor commission, says the commission would like to see more venues in downtown that concentrate on entertainment, rather than just drinking.
