Illinois State University could plunk down close to $800,000 to remodel the first floor of Edwards Hall. That building houses the Mennonite College of Nursing, which administrators say is acutely short of office space. Growing enrollment, and new faculty hires require at least 18 new offices and some research space. Edwards Hall has had classroom space on the first floor since it opened in 1920 and the renovation would convert about 31,000 square feet to offices. Mennonite says the change is necessary to avoid jeopardizing faculty recruitment.
