Boy shooter in high school incident fit for trial

Prosecutors in McLean County say a 14-year-old boy accused of firing gunshots into a ceiling at his high school is fit to stand trial. Assistant State;s Attorney Bill Workman says a psychiatric evaluation found the boy meets the legal requirements of mental fitness. Defense lawyer Art Feldman says the teen has been receiving mental health treatment. The boy has pleaded not guilty to 14 felony charges including unlawful restraint and unlawful use of a weapon. Police say the teen was carrying three handguns and ammunition September 7th when he fired the shots at Normal Community High School. A teacher tackled him to the ground and no one was injured.
