Bloomington balks at women's transition center
After discussion during a Bloomington City Council work session, there isn't a clear direction from council about financing a housing project for recently paroled women. Labyrinth--a women's service group--is asking for $150,000 to fund a four unit apartment building on a vacant lot in west Washington Steet, half of what the group asked for in February. Alderman

City Planning Divisional Manager Sharon Walker says promises have been made for siding donations and volunteer work, lessening monetary need from the city. The project would use up 25 percent of funding from a federal grant aimed at low to middle income areas in the city.
