Bloomington Police are investigating a car crash involving Assistant Chief Robert Wall. Police Chief Randy McKinley says Wall was off duty in his own vehicle when he hit a utility pole at Veterans Parkway and Ireland Grove Road. Instead of staying there, Wall left the scene of the accident and only reported the crash when he arrived home. Officers notified Chief McKinley and said Wall smelled slightly of alcohol. At McKinley's request, responding officers performed a field sobriety test, which Wall passed. Wall admitted he had had one or two drinks earlier Wednesday evening. McKinley says Wall has been ticketed for improper lane usage and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Those charges will be reviewed by the State's Attorney.
