Peoria unveils Pryor sculpture

Peoria native Richard Pryor is now a permanent part of his home town. A bust of the comedian now stands on a pedestal at John H. Gynn park, near the neighborhood where Pryor grew up. The bust was created by Peoria area artist R. Rasheed Reed and stands across the street from the George Washington Carver Community Center. Pryor grew up in a Peoria bordello, and went on to become of the most successful, and controversial, comedians of the 1970's. He also appeard in movies, including one of the Superman flicks.
