US Representative Jesse Jackson's wife says her husband is seeing his doctor two to three times a week and his physician will decide when the congressman returns to work. Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson told reporters she believes Jackson will eventually be back. She says she didn't know if that would happen before or after the November 6th election. Jackson says right now her husband knows he has "to follow doctors' orders."
The 47-year-old Chicago Democrat took a leave of absence about three months ago. It was later revealed he was hospitalized for severe depression and gastrointestinal problems.
Sandi Jackson also says that while the family's Washington home is no longer on the market, they are still trying to sell it privately. She thanked voters for their support and encouragement.
