Residents of the City of Bloomington will now be able to view City Council meetings from the comfort of their own home. Aldermen unanimously approved buying cameras, projection equipment, two LED monitors and on-line streaming equipment to provide "basic services." The over $80,000 investment allows instant on-line streaming through the City's website, and includes broadcast on the public access channel. Mayor Steve Stockton says the City admits Bloomington is late to the game, but says there are benefits to waiting:
The approval is the last installment of the City's $121,000 Communication Technology Master Plan. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
