At least one McLean County Board member is unhappy even with a five dollar increase in property taxes for the owner of an average home proposed in the draft budget for next fiscal year. Like last year, Republican George Wendt is pushing for more cuts to the budget to avoid even a penny increase in the tax rate. Administrator Bill Wasson says it would take reductions of several hundred thousand dollars to meet Wendt's goal.
Wasson also says County Board members will be able to weigh possible fee increases and other revenue enhancements as they go through the budget making process. The total proposed budget is $79.4 million.
