Amtrak continues to set ridership records with eleven consecutive monthly high marks both nationally and on the Chicago to Saint Louis Corridor. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says ridership on the line through Bloomington-Normal is up eleven percent through August. and September is also expected to surge. That growth outperforms the nationwide increase of about 3.4%. In the budget year to date, the Chicago to Saint Louis route has had nearly 61,000 more riders than at this time last year. Total ridership on the corridor has topped 619,000 people. Nationally, Amtrak has set new ridership records in eight of the last nine years.
