State workers in central Illinois who use Health Alliance HMO for their coverage need not worry about mid-year upheaval, at least this year. State Representative Dan Brady says the temporary emergency contracts with Health Alliance and Coventry HMO have now been extended until a new procurement process is complete or the end of the fiscal year in June, whichever is later. Those contracts had been set to expire late this month with the procurement process ongoing. The controversy over state plans to drop Health Alliance began more than a year ago and extended into the courts as the HMOs and workers protested the state decision.
