Gutierrez praises Obama on immigration at DNC

Thu, 06 Sep 2012 04:04:26 CDT

A Chicago congressman took the stage at the Democratic National Convention last night to praise President Barack Obama's immigration stance. Representative Luis Gutierrez spoke to the convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Gutierrez lauded Mister Obama's recent plan to stop deporting some young illegal immigrants who came to the US as children:

"The future of a generation will be decided in this election. We can not deny them justice. President Obama is protecting immigrants. Mitt Romney wants undocumented immigrants to self-deport."

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has not said whether he'd reverse the president's deferred action policy for young immigrants. President Barack Obama is set to give his speech to the DNC tonight.
