The Peoria Metro area, which includes Marshall, Tazewell, Peoria, and Woodford Counties, is boasting an additional 5,000 jobs from a year ago. That's according the latest Statistical Composite of Peoria Economy, or SCOPE report from Bradley University. Bernard Goitein of the University's Foster School of Business puts the report together. He says manufacturing job growth lead the surge:
Goitein says those manufacturing jobs account for roughly half the job growth in the region from a year ago. He says other indicators are also good, with retail sales up over 9 percent from a year earlier, and home sales up nearly 10 percent.
