Voluntary water conservation efforts are in effect for residents of Bloomington after the city's supply lakes dropped to a deficit of 8 feet. The voluntary efforts mostly call for reduced and more efficient lawn watering and fixing leaks in homes. The moderate drought alert announced yesterday afternoon also doubles the rate for water haulers. The city would issue a more serious drought alert if levels fall two more feet at the Evergreen and Bloomington lakes.
