Hearings have begun in Springfield over union accusations Unit Five Schools failed to bargain with newly organized bus drivers in good faith. In opening day statements Monday, a lawyer for the union says the McLean County school district decided to get rid of the drivers as soon as they voted in favor of union representation nearly a year ago. Unionized bus drivers were officially fired last week, and First Student drivers were to take over the routes on the first day of school, but an injunction is preventing the school district from proceeding. Hearings are expected to take up much of the week.
