Illinois' cameras in courts pilot program is more than six months old. A spokesman for the state Supreme Court says so far everything appears to be working fine. Joe Tybor says all of the status reports from chief judges indicate no media disruptions during proceedings. But, Tybor says, they're still waiting for the "big" test:
"One thing we have not seen yet is a full trial before a trial before a jury in which multiple media are present and interested. In other words, a high profile trial"
Tybor says that test will come in Whiteside County next month, when accused killer Nicolas Sheley goes on trial. Whiteside is part of the 14th judicial circuit which was the first to be approved for the program.
