The Illinois State University Athletics Department is announcing its largest local television package in school history. ISU Athletic Director Gary Friedman says under the new package, over half of the Redbirds football games will be televised.
"TV is very important obviously from a fan perspective, from the interest from our alumni and our fans but also from a recruiting standpoint. You know the young men and women these days wanna be seen on television and obviously heard on the radio."
Friedman says ISU games being televised under the new package are on the road. Plans for fall coverage include broadcasting 20 games, with 4 football and 13 men's basketball games scheduled to appear on Comcast Sports Net Chicago. Two other football games will appear on the Missouri Valley Conference network. Friedman says he hopes the exposure will get students excited about seeing the Redbirds play and that they will then attend home games.
