A McLean County judge has sentenced a 31-year-old Decatur man to eight years in prison for driving drunk during an accident that killed a Bloomington man in December. Brayone Murff pleaded guilty to being under the influence of alcohol and drugs when his 1999 Lexus struck a Chevrolet Impala. The crash killed Tony Buck, who was riding in the backseat of Murff's car. The accident injured two people in the other car.
The judge also ordered Murff to pay more than $178,000 in restitution to cover the victims' medical costs. McLean County Assistant State's Attorney Matthew Banach says Murff admitted to drinking brandy before the crash and also tested positive for the main chemical substance in marijuana.
