The flap over the Made in China US Olympic team uniforms could have been avoided. That's according to Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, who visited Normal. Durbin told GLT News the Olympic committee made the wrong decision and should have known better.
Durbin admits it's difficult to go into a store and find clothing items that are made in the US. But he says if people don't start trying to do just that, the items that are made here will go away, and so will the jobs that create them. The committee released a statement saying it's too late to redo the uniform purchase so US-made goods are involved, but he says contract Ralph Lauren has agreed to use US products when the uniforms for the winter Olympic games are held in 2014.
