The Reverend Jesse Jackson Senior is speaking out about the condition of his son, Congressman Jesse Jackson, Junior. Last month Jackson Junior's office announced the congressman is taking a medical leave of absence, but a spokesman hasn't given many details about the congressman's condition. Jackson Senior says he spoke with his son a few days ago, and Jackson Junior's voice was strong:
"When we met some weeks ago, he felt the need to get medical supervision. He was very weakened and we got that. He's now under medical supervision. He is regaining his strength and that part will be left to him and the doctors to describe at the appropriate time."
Jackson Senior says he hopes people will hear from his son soon. He says he relates to his son's medical issue as a father, and he's pained and concerned about it. The senior Jackson made his comments during a visit to IPR station WBEZ in Chicago. (picture courtesy WBEZ)
