Thousands will flock to Uptown Normal this weekend for the annual Sugar Creek Arts Festival and they'll be happy to know organizers are taking steps to keep everyone as cool as possible under the intense heat. Doug Johnson , Executive Director of the McLean County Arts Center says most of the shops in Uptown Normal will be open with air conditioning available, as will one major central location.
"We're having the Normal Theater open as a cooling station from 11 til 4 on both days"
Johnson says Normal's fire department will provide a "mist-er" with fans so fest-goers can cool off. The annual arts fair draws participants from all over the country. WGLT is a sponsor of the festival.
