The Salvation Army in Bloomington is asking for donations of box fans to help people beat the heat. Development Director Steve Schroeder says they are down to fifteen fans in reserve and demand will likely increase.
"We've given out over 150 so far in two weeks. We have another week and a half of giving fans away coming at us. So the fact we still have a week and a half annd it's getting hotter, I assume it's going to pick up."
Schroeder says the Salvation Army is also accepting cash donations to buy fans, if people don't have new or gently used box fans to give. Fan recipients have to present Social Security numbers, a photo ID, and a current piece of mail.
