Normal Town Council Member Jason Chambers says he will resign his position at the end of the month. He had originally planned to resign from the council in October, but came to realize that would not be fair because next April is a Council election.
"You could have a situation where if the other two council members who were up, if they were running for re-election they could be voting on appointing someone who is one of the candidates running against them."
Chambers is running this November for McLean County State's Attorney. The slating deadline for parties is now past, so it is likely he will remain unopposed. Mayor Chris Koos will appoint a replacement within two months of Chambers resignation, with the advice and consent of the Council. Interim States Attorney Ron Dozier has given signs he could resign in October, clearing the way for the County Board to appoint Chambers.
