McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says the 21 year old woman declared brain dead in a hit and run accident early Sunday was from Bloomington. The family of Lauren Leffler of Bloomington says they will donate her organs to help others. Leffler and a man were crossing the street outside a bar in downtown Bloomington when a car struck them about 2 a.m. Sunday. The man received treatment at an area hospital. Arrested in the case is 23-year old Katie Lawson of Bloomington. She faces charges of DUI, causing an accident involving injury and death, driving on a suspended license, and other traffic counts.

The Coroner has also released the identity of a man who died in a fiery crash at Linden and Northtown Road in north Normal over the weekend. Coroner Kimmerling says 30-year old Travis Kinsella, formerly of Towanda died of carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation, not the crash. Information indicated Kinsella was headed to Carlock when the vehicle left the roadway. Authorities are still looking into why the vehicle left the roadway.
