Bloomington-Normal residents will get the chance to ride the bus for free on all fixed route buses Thursday. The Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System is taking part in the 7th annual National "Dump the Pump Day." B-NPTS Director Andrew Johnson says it is a "thank you" to those who ride mass transit everyday, and a chance for those who normally don't, to experience it.
Johnson says the average person who rides buses frequently can save up to $4,000 per year in fuel and maintenance costs. The slogan this year is "Dump the Pump. Save Money. Ride Transit."
