Congressional Candidate Rodney Davis says he is offended Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad has not been dealt with as forcefully as other dictators have. During a stop in Bloomington, the Taylorville Republican also said the U-S should continue to carefully monitor the situation.
Davis says, though, that whatever the U-S does in Syria, America should not give decision making control to the United Nations over where and when its forces are deployed. Davis's Democratic opponent David Gill says the situation in Syria is complex and not easy to solve. Gill doesn't automatically reject a U-N umbrella for a potential mission, but says a grand coalition would also work. Gill says though, adding to the chaos in Syria would not be good either.
The 13th Congressional district contains parts of Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Springfield, and Decatur.
