Congressional hopeful Rodney Davis says Congress needs to find an effective way to deal with immigration reform without an amnesty program. Last week President Obama issued an executive order halting deportation against young illegal immigrants with clean criminal records. The 13th District GOP Candidate Davis says Congress is the way to deal with the problem instead.
Davis's Democratic opponent, though hails the executive order. Bloomington Doctor David Gill says it is the compassionate thing to do.
But, the Republican Davis says there are other correct paths to citizenship, though he declined to offer details. David Gill says the President would not have had to act if Congress were not deadlocked on the issue. Former President George W. Bush offered immigration reform during his time in office as well, but Bush did not receive significant support from his own party on that proposal.
