The town of Normal has chosen a veteran of childrens' museum administration to be the new manager of the Children's Discovery Museum. Sheila Riley will begin her duties
July 2. She succeeds interim manager Carol Struck, who took over when longtime museum head Shari Buckelew was fired in early March. Riley has had two stints at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the largest in the world with over a million visitors annually. She spent all but three years there from 1990 through last year, serving as educator, curator and--most recently--Director of Collections. From 1997-2000 she was a deputy director at the South Carolina State Museum. City Manager Mark Peterson says Riley surfaced as the top choice among all members of the search committee. She has a bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University and studied at Indiana University.
