One of Bloomington Mayoral Candidate Tari Renner's top campaign issues is working toward a regional water supply. Renner says he's not sure whether conditions have changed enough over the last 30 years to allow compromise with small units of government in Western McLean and eastern Tazewell Counties, but he says the problem will not go away.

Studies for plans to tap the Mahomet Aquifer began after the drought year of 1987, but agreement was never reached on access to the underground water, cost sharing, or control of the resource.
